Had a wonderful time photographing these beautiful sisters recently. They were fun and playful and our hour together flew by. Mom realized that her chances of getting them together were getting slimmer as one is in college and another a senior in high school. Along with doing a senior photo and some shots of the girls together and individually we also did a few family photos that included mom – which she said hasn’t happened in many years. It’s so important to exist in photos for your friends and family and I’m so glad I got to capture a few moments for them.

That moment when you are photographing twin boys and you ask them to pretend to like each other. Young boxer in training. ;) Love how this joking moment shows their affection for one another.

I ran a Holiday Mini special in the studio recently. It was a first for me and trying to get everyone to give me that “perfect smile” in a 20 minute session proved to be a difficult task – but a fun one. Love this family, all dressed so beautifully – kicking back and just having a blast. In the end I think the experience of joy is so much more important than the perfectly polished pose.

Last week in the studio we did a test run for holiday mini sessions. I know – it’s ridiculously early. If it weren’t for a local mom who urged me to get ready – Christmas would not be on my mind yet. One thing I love about doing “Day In The Life” portrait sessions …. catching real life moments like these. Jacob was considering climbing the stairs for the first time while I was there photographing the family. The next shot was of his bum …. from behind … as he traversed the lower three steps. Priceless moment.

A day in the life portrait sessions are something new I’ve been experimenting with lately. Rather than dressing up, coming to my studio and trying to get everyone to behave perfectly to make one beautiful photo – I come to you and document your life as is. I’m your paparazzi for a few hours and we capture all those precious moments that make life wonderful …. mess, imperfection and all.
This morning bath is just one activity we photographed in the three hours I spent with this family. I love the bottom right image because it contains three generations of love. Grammie in the background helping Josh get clean … while he leans over and looks at a photo of his great-grandfather.
And one of Joshua’s twin brother Jacob – taking a break from watching Mickey and eating breakfast to give me some serious checking out. I was told Jacob is more introverted and loves really taking people in – so this moment captures him wonderfully. :)

Even though Sock Monkey is sitting on top of a full box of new, unwrapped toys – I’ll still be collecting them in the studio for the next week.
You can send a text to see if the studio is open [ 860.306.0067 ] or just pop by. If we are in an appointment, just leave your toy on the front porch and we will bring it in.

The studio is officially a Toys for Tots collection site this year. I’ll be collecting new, unwrapped toys through December 13th – so please pop by and bring one. I can’t tell you how excited I was when the first ones got dropped off. Giving to others just plain feels good and my hope for the studio is to be able to continually contribute to the community around me. I can’t do it without you joining hands with me. To that end – I’m offering free hand massages to the first five people who bring toys by. What is one of the ways you plant seeds of love to those around you?
