Updates for 2022: Covid-19, Pricing, and Instagram

Happy New Year!

Crossing my fingers for a more easeful 2022, how about you?

This message is being sent to keep you updated on Covid policies and session pricing for 2022.

We’ve all experienced price increases across industries and I’ve noticed that many of my colleagues have upped their massage fees –  most to $90 an hour.

At this time I am choosing **NOT TO RAISE PRICES**. I don’t want a higher appointment rate to be a barrier to your wellness through massage.

Rather than raise prices, I am considering removing package discount pricing – however at this time you can still purchase two sessions at once to save 5%.

COVID policies:

Masks are again required throughout your session – no matter your vaccination status. All last-minute cancellation fees will be waived for the time being.  I urge you to please reschedule your time with me if you feel unwell in any way or have been knowingly exposed to anyone who has tested positive for the virus.

I continue to keep 30 minutes between clients so that the massage room can be cleaned and sanitized thoroughly. An air filter is run throughout your session, my hands are washed, hand sanitizer is used, a mask is worn, etc.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

My main priority is to continue to support your heath and well being and keep us all safe.

I look forward to working with you soon!
Be well,
Tania

P.S. I occasionally post self care videos over on INSTAGRAM, along with some of my art. If there is something you’d like to learn about – maybe reflexology points for different aches and pains – message me and look for the video over there. You can find me @TANIAPALERMOSTUDIOONMAIN

Updated Mask Policy

In covid-19, Massage on June 21, 2021 at 12:45 PM

Updated Mask Policy:

Anyone who is fully vaccinated may choose to forgo their mask during their next massage session. AND – if you still feel more comfortable wearing one – please do.

At this time the Department of Health does still require mask wearing indoors for anyone not yet vaccinated. This means you will still need to wear one throughout your massage session for the time being.

I’m working on the honor system. No proof of vaccination is required.

All other cleaning and safety protocols will remain in place.

As always – please reach out with any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing you! :)

If you have any fears or questions please be in touch so we can talk about it. All of the new required protocols have been set in place to best protect you [and me]. OPENING JULY 6, 2020

In Business, covid-19, Manchester, Massage, Uncategorized on June 29, 2020 at 6:39 PM

Dear Massage Community,

This week marks the 16th week since Tania Palermo’s Studio on Main had to shut down temporarily. I’m happy to share that I will officially be up and running again on July 6, 2020.

Most of the changes that will occur in order to reopen will be behind the scenes. Like extra time allotted for disinfecting the massage room between clients. There are a few things that will effect you directly, however, and I encourage anyone with questions to please be in touch before your next appointment.

MASSAGE ROOM-2

Of note:

  • All clients must bring and wear a mask, covering both nose and mouth, during your entire visit.
  • Before your massage you will be asked to fill out an informed consent form and to update your health history in relation to any Covid-19 exposure or symptoms. Those forms can be found online HERE, or will be available in the office on the day of your visit.
  • There will be no waiting area available. Loved ones will have to drop you off if you do not drive yourself.
  • There will be a temperature check at the door.
  • Those feeling unwell or in high-risk groups with comorbidities are still being encouraged to stay home.
  • Your mask may not be removed – so we will not be doing work on the face in any of the covered areas
  • All extraneous items have been removed from the office. Please bring your own water if you’d like some.
  • I will wear gloves only if necessary
  • I am required to wear a mask AND face shield or goggles during your session – be prepared to laugh. ;-)

The online booking system is open and available for you to use. If you have questions please text: 860-306-0067 or email: tania@taniapalermo.com

I look forward to seeing you soon and exploring this new way of receiving bodywork together.

May you be well,
Tania

Hello Massage Clients & Friends,

A quick note to keep you updated on what’s happening.

The state of CT has included Massage Therapy in Phase 2 of the Reopen CT plan. This would allow me to begin sessions again as soon as June 17, 2020However – there are new guidelines and rules we have to follow – and as of today, I do not have all of the required tools in place in order to self certify and reopen. As many things are on back order, this is out of my control – but I am working to acquire all that is necessary ASAP and will send out a final email with a specific date as soon as I can.

MASSAGE ROOM-2

A heads up that one of the requirements to open is that you will have to wear a mask or cloth face covering protecting your mouth and nose the ENTIRE time you are with me – including throughout your whole massage – even when you are face down on the table. I will not be allowed to touch any area on your face that is covered. I’d love your feedback to know if you will still receive massage while we have to follow that mandatory rule? Or will you wait until the restrictions are loosened? Are you feeling safe to come back for a massage at this time?

Thank you for your patience and understanding these past few months. I do look forward to seeing you again soon!

Be well,
Tania

MAY 2020 COVID-19 UPDATE

In Business, covid-19, Massage, Uncategorized on May 19, 2020 at 3:30 PM

Hello –

Hoping this note finds you healthy and happy. I know our stay at home orders have gone on much longer than any of us anticipated and that people are starting to feel a little restless.

Over the past few days many of you have reached out to ask when you can come back in for your next massage. The answer is – I still don’t know – but I will be back – and will send out notification when that is allowed to happen.

While I choose to voluntarily do what I thought was going to be a temporary two week shut down on March 15th – the governor then issued orders telling us to close down until further notice. Since then I have also received notification from the CT Department of Health stating that massage therapists are not allowed to practice at this time.

In this moment, the date of reopening is out of my hands.

Will things be different when we are allowed to conduct business again? Yes. All businesses must go through a self-certification process and uphold any health and safety measures that are issued by the state. The massage therapy profession has not been notified yet as to what this will mean for us, so I will update you when the time comes.

In the meantime I am still here for you and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions. I’ve posted two videos on social media – one with some reflexology tips to reduce anxiety – to help us stay in touch and focused on ways to do self-care at home.  Let me know if they help and I will endeavor to do more. You can find them on both Facebook and Instagram at Tania Palermo Studio on Main and on my website at taniapalermo.com

May you be healthy. May you be happy. May you be well. May you be filled with peace.
Tania
p.s. photos of flowers inserted because I find them pretty and am hoping they will distract you from the bad news of business still being closed. ;)

I’m still here . . .

Today was one of the tougher ones. We are all facing our own challenges and changes, ups and downs. I’ve confided to friends how hard it is to be living alone through all of this. No physical contact with another soul, no one to talk with in the middle of the night, when the anxiety often shows up. No other income to rely on. They tell me how hard it is to be stuck at home when they are fighting with their partners, when the kids just told them they suck for the hundredth time, and the dog just ate the meal they cooked when they had to leave the room for five minutes.  We are all riding a roller coaster.

I am self-employed and single. When I was forced to close shop on March 15th, and stopped having any income source – I still had two properties to support. Home and business expenses kept coming, and I started a slow, quiet panic. I knew I’d be OK – for a short time… but for how long? Most small businesses, as I’m sure you know by all the people asking you to not forget them during this crisis, run on very small margins.

I filed for unemployment as, for the first time, self-employed folks are eligible to apply with the new Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. I got word that my claim was approved and filed my first one yesterday.  When I checked on the dollar amount this morning, it was …. ZERO. I applied for one of the SBA disaster loans. My claim number was 3,302,753,XXX.  A friend told me that number represents the number of claims that have been filed. Even if that’s not possible … Yikes! Didn’t leave me feeling very hopeful.

So, I did what I do. Cried for a few moments, and once I got it all out of my system, began looking for other solutions. Then took a walk. In the woods. It never ceases to be a healing source for me. As I walked down the trail, these tiny landscapes kept catching my eye.  I had to get down on the forest floor to make this image. Look at all the growth that’s going on there! Saplings, blades of grass, flowers … It brought me so much hope for some reason. Maybe it’s the restorative effect of spring, trusting in the cycle of life, regrowth, and rebirth. These small shoots having the courage to find their spot in the larger forest. Or maybe it was just crawling on my knees to get eye level to this scene that reminded me to change my perspective in general. The image isn’t in focus … but neither are our lives right now. Everything is a little fuzzy. And that’s OK.

I’m sharing this in hopes it reaches someone else who may be in similar shoes. To let you know you’re not alone. It can be tough to repeatedly, sometimes mindlessly, hear

#we’re all in this together

when, while yes, we are all staying home in a united effort to protect the collective health and well-being of all – no situation is the same. And I think people really need to be seen. Witnessed. Acknowledged. Not just thrown a hashtag.

To some this is an inconvenience. It’s hard and a struggle, but they are working from home, maintaining an income, and will largely be OK.  To some people it means being in danger. There are many in domestic violence situations right now who are living their days in fear. To some it means not being able to buy food for their children.  To some it means losing their livelihood. I’ve already witnessed small businesses closing for good. Not just temporarily during this pandemic.

Please know wherever you are, however you’re felling – it’s OK. It’s OK to have decided you’re going to get in shape to run a marathon during this time – and it’s also OK if you’re going to eat cookies and binge watch TV. Nobody else knows how your new life is really affecting you – except for you. So please don’t compare yourself to others. Try to find ways to be gentle and kind to yourself, and reach out if you’re feeling alone.  And try to really witness the people who reach out to you. Don’t just throw them a blanket statement of how we’ll all get through this. That’s not going to look the same for anyone. You may not be able to fix anything for them, but acknowledging their personal struggles throughout all this may help them feel held, truly connected, truly seen, and bolstered up to trudge forward.
