OPENING JULY 6, 2020
In Business, covid-19, Manchester, Massage, Uncategorized on June 29, 2020 at 6:39 PMDear Massage Community,
This week marks the 16th week since Tania Palermo’s Studio on Main had to shut down temporarily. I’m happy to share that I will officially be up and running again on July 6, 2020.
Most of the changes that will occur in order to reopen will be behind the scenes. Like extra time allotted for disinfecting the massage room between clients. There are a few things that will effect you directly, however, and I encourage anyone with questions to please be in touch before your next appointment.
Of note:
- All clients must bring and wear a mask, covering both nose and mouth, during your entire visit.
- Before your massage you will be asked to fill out an informed consent form and to update your health history in relation to any Covid-19 exposure or symptoms. Those forms can be found online HERE, or will be available in the office on the day of your visit.
- There will be no waiting area available. Loved ones will have to drop you off if you do not drive yourself.
- There will be a temperature check at the door.
- Those feeling unwell or in high-risk groups with comorbidities are still being encouraged to stay home.
- Your mask may not be removed – so we will not be doing work on the face in any of the covered areas
- All extraneous items have been removed from the office. Please bring your own water if you’d like some.
- I will wear gloves only if necessary
- I am required to wear a mask AND face shield or goggles during your session – be prepared to laugh. ;-)
The online booking system is open and available for you to use. If you have questions please text: 860-306-0067 or email: tania@taniapalermo.com
I look forward to seeing you soon and exploring this new way of receiving bodywork together.
May you be well,
Tania
What to expect for your next massage . . .
In Business, covid-19, CT, Manchester, Massage, studio on main, Uncategorized on June 13, 2020 at 5:48 PMOpening soon . . .
In Business, covid-19, Massage, self care, Uncategorized on June 12, 2020 at 11:56 AMHello Massage Clients & Friends,
The state of CT has included Massage Therapy in Phase 2 of the Reopen CT plan. This would allow me to begin sessions again as soon as June 17, 2020. However – there are new guidelines and rules we have to follow – and as of today, I do not have all of the required tools in place in order to self certify and reopen. As many things are on back order, this is out of my control – but I am working to acquire all that is necessary ASAP and will send out a final email with a specific date as soon as I can.

A heads up that one of the requirements to open is that you will have to wear a mask or cloth face covering protecting your mouth and nose the ENTIRE time you are with me – including throughout your whole massage – even when you are face down on the table. I will not be allowed to touch any area on your face that is covered. I’d love your feedback to know if you will still receive massage while we have to follow that mandatory rule? Or will you wait until the restrictions are loosened? Are you feeling safe to come back for a massage at this time?
Thank you for your patience and understanding these past few months. I do look forward to seeing you again soon!
Be well,
Tania
Black Live Matter Protest – Manchester,CT
In black lives matter, community, Manchester, personal, Photography, Uncategorized on June 6, 2020 at 5:33 PMSome photos of the Black Lives Matter protest in Manchester, CT today. It was a peaceful and beautiful event with inspiring speakers of all ages. I’ve been thinking about ways I can continue to use my voice to be an ally – and I know that art of any kind is a powerful medium to communicate through. If I can use photography to help give anyone a voice who wants to also be an ally to the black community, and create positive change – please reach out to me and we’ll figure out a way to stand together. I’ve been musing an idea for an art project on my own – but I’d like to hear what’s needed rather than just what I think might be a good idea. ♥
MAY 2020 COVID-19 UPDATE
In Business, covid-19, Massage, Uncategorized on May 19, 2020 at 3:30 PMHello –
Hoping this note finds you healthy and happy. I know our stay at home orders have gone on much longer than any of us anticipated and that people are starting to feel a little restless.
Over the past few days many of you have reached out to ask when you can come back in for your next massage. The answer is – I still don’t know – but I will be back – and will send out notification when that is allowed to happen.
While I choose to voluntarily do what I thought was going to be a temporary two week shut down on March 15th – the governor then issued orders telling us to close down until further notice. Since then I have also received notification from the CT Department of Health stating that massage therapists are not allowed to practice at this time.
In this moment, the date of reopening is out of my hands.
Will things be different when we are allowed to conduct business again? Yes. All businesses must go through a self-certification process and uphold any health and safety measures that are issued by the state. The massage therapy profession has not been notified yet as to what this will mean for us, so I will update you when the time comes.
In the meantime I am still here for you and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions. I’ve posted two videos on social media – one with some reflexology tips to reduce anxiety – to help us stay in touch and focused on ways to do self-care at home. Let me know if they help and I will endeavor to do more. You can find them on both Facebook and Instagram at Tania Palermo Studio on Main and on my website at taniapalermo.com
May you be healthy. May you be happy. May you be well. May you be filled with peace.
Tania
p.s. photos of flowers inserted because I find them pretty and am hoping they will distract you from the bad news of business still being closed. ;)

Keeping Quiet
In CT, landscape, local artist, Manchester, personal, Photography, self care, Uncategorized on March 26, 2020 at 4:22 PMSelf-care for me today meant … walking in the woods, taking pictures, saying hello to strangers and their playful puppies and … reading poetry. What did it look like for you?
Keeping Quiet
by Pablo Neruda
“Now we will count to twelve
and we will all keep still
for once on the face of the earth,
let’s not speak in any language;
let’s stop for a second,
and not move our arms so much.
It would be an exotic moment
without rush, without engines;
we would all be together
in a sudden strangeness.
Fishermen in the cold sea
would not harm whales
and the man gathering salt
would not look at his hurt hands.
Those who prepare green wars,
wars with gas, wars with fire,
victories with no survivors,
would put on clean clothes
and walk about with their brothers
in the shade, doing nothing.
What I want should not be confused
with total inactivity.
Life is what it is about…
If we were not so single-minded
about keeping our lives moving,
and for once could do nothing,
perhaps a huge silence
might interrupt this sadness
of never understanding ourselves
and of threatening ourselves with
death.
Now I’ll count up to twelve
and you keep quiet and I will go.”
