Joshua & Jacob Twin Newborn Photo Session
In Business, Children, Photography, Portrait on July 31, 2013 at 6:32 PMI’m in love. With Joshua & Jacob and with newborn photography. My friend Jodie’s daughter Lexi just had twins!! And they allowed me the great honor of coming to the house to take some pictures. This was my first time working with infants and I feel so lucky to have been able to do it – and can’t wait for the next opportunity. Lexi is beautiful, the babies are gorgeous and we all had fun working together. Here are a few images from the session. ♥♥♥ [ I threw in just one “fussy” one of Joshua because I still think he looks cute … and that is the only time he cried. He was perfectly cooperative for two solid hours which totally amazed me. ]
If you were having a newborn session done, how would you want your pictures processed? Since this was my first time I had a hard time deciding if I wanted to do all bright and colorful or more classic with the black and white.
Massage can help with Addiction & Anxiety
In Business, Massage, Specials on July 27, 2013 at 5:41 PMI’ve read two articles recently about the benefits that massage can have for people suffering with anxiety and / or addiction. One of the biggest things I’ve witnessed on my table repeatedly is just how quickly safe, therapeutic touch can help a person to be more fully grounded in their body. We spend so much time in our heads every day – worrying about the hundreds of things we need to accomplish, wondering if we are doing OK as a parent; friend; business owner…hoping that soon life will get easier. All of that thinking and worrying increases our stress levels and specifically raises the levels of cortisol in our bodies. That can put us into a cycle of feeling run down, often leaving us with decreased immune system functioning, tiredness and lack of patience, etc A one hour Swedish massage can aid in breaking that stress cycle.
I’ve had clients come in for massage practically bouncing off the walls from the busyness of their lives – their levels of anxiety are high. Many of them, somewhere in our session time, will heave a huge sigh of relief and settle in – shifting from existing just mentally to really sinking down “into themselves/their bodies”. It’s not uncommon for people to shed tears as a way to release tension. They really get in touch with the effects life is having on them and are able to experience a sense of peace and well-being, often for the first time in many months. Massage has been proven to increase dopamine and serotonin and decrease cortisol – all of which can help alleviate depression and anxiety and help support you in making healthier self-care choices.
We’d love for you to experience the benefits of massage first hand. Please check out our massage specials for July and August here.

Raffle Winners from Saturday’s Open House … and Fresh Bread
In Business, cooking, Massage, Open House, Photography, Specials, Spring on June 3, 2013 at 3:21 PMThe Open House on Saturday was a great success!! Once the guests arrived I was so engaged with interacting with everyone that I neglected to take any pictures, but there are a few detail shots here. It was fun to meet new people and I’m so grateful for the love and support from so many friends and family members.
There were lots of flowers everywhere and these were my favorite. I’ve spent this rainy Monday morning playing around with a few photographs, making homemade bread AND drawing the winners of the raffle prizes…
I’ll be mailing the gifts out this week and can’t wait for the winners to come in and use them.
Drum roll …. winner of the 10 minute hand massage is Karin G from Manchester; winner of the 30 minute Swedish massage is Ann A from Glastonbury; and winner of the 20% off coupon is Carey P from Vernon!! Yay!
For everyone else who came please remember that your gift for signing up for the mailing list, $20 off a 30 minute massage is valid only for June and July 2013 – so call to book your spot now. If you weren’t able to make it Saturday you can still take advantage of the $15 off 30 or 60 minute therapeutic massage special rolled over from May. Looking forward to seeing you!!
A sneak peek of what I accomplished today …
In Business, Marketing, Massage, Photography on April 22, 2013 at 9:41 PMA good portion of my day today was spent designing and ordering some marketing materials. It’s amazing just how much time that can take when you are not a graphic artist … and are very inept at the software you are using to attempt a design. While in the end I enjoyed the process – it took up a ton of time and I’m looking forward to becoming financially successful enough to be able to hire out for these sorts of things in the future. I was getting a little punchy by the time I got to the back of the business card and went with a touch of humor in my ‘save the date’ section.
Here’s the sneak peek … one postcard and one business card:
