“Fire Cider” is a very old natural remedy used for a variety of illnesses and health issues. It is more specifically used to treat cold and flu viruses and upper respiratory conditions.

In this workshop you’ll sample different fire cider recipes and learn everything there is to know about it as you make your own with a basic recipe, ingredients and guidance provided to you by your instructor Jennifer Mather.

Due to the use of fresh, prepared ingredients, preregistration is strongly suggested to make sure you have a spot in the workshop. This workshop is $30 per person for preregistration or $35 per person at the door.

Contact Jennifer Mather at 860-573-7400 with any questions and to register

Jennifer has been creating natural remedies, including fire cider for the past 16 years.

MY FIRST CSA – NO FARMS NO FOOD

In CT, FARM, landscape, local artist, Photography on June 18, 2015 at 10:17 AM

In my quest to support “all things local” I have joined my first CSA this year. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. You buy into a farm before they start their growing season and they give you a share of what they grow each week. Fresh. Local. Delicious. Driving out to the place where my food was grown and meeting the people who put so much care and hard labor into growing it has upped my appreciation for what I’m eating this week. One of my regular clients recommended the Hurst Family Farm to me – saying they grew the best veggies she’d ever tasted – and I have not been disappointed. The farmer let me wander around a bit to take photos and what attracted me that day were lots of cute birdhouses, friendly livestock and the textures on the fence. Can’t wait to see what I’ll get to eat next week. :)

Field Trip to Hartford Prints!

In Business, local artist, Marketing, Open House, Photography on May 28, 2013 at 9:17 PM

I took a break in today’s busy schedule to travel into Hartford to meet the three sisters who own and operate Hartford Prints! – a Letterpress studio.

Addy, Callie and Rory run all aspects of the business and it was fun to meet them in person and watch the printing press in action. They’ve designed some vintage (with a modern twist) gift certificates for me which will be ready just in time for my Open House on Saturday (if I remember to order the envelopes tonight).  Each one was run through the press individually. How cool is that?!

I have to admit – I love paper and the craft of the old printing presses. If I weren’t already immersed in photography, massage therapy and running a studio I would definitely want to learn more about what these girls do all day. Since I couldn’t dive into all the old wood and metal letters or take them home with me, I took way too many pictures and will share a few with you here.

It’s so important to support your local artists. Handmade, one of a kind items are a treasure! Hartford Prints! offers a class at Christmas time where you can go into the studio and make your own holiday cards!! Check them out on Facebook to be reminded of the event so you can mark your calendar and plan to be there.
