Some tips on how to be an amazing therapeutic massage client: No. 2

In Business, Manchester, Massage, Uncategorized on September 19, 2025 at 11:22 AM

Prioritize hygiene. This does not mean you need to shave your legs or have stepped out of the shower five minutes before your appointment. It does mean that we need you to come in clean. For example, don’t come to us directly after a hot yoga class. Please have showered and washed your hair the same day as your session. Consider not wearing strong perfumes, colognes, or body lotions. If you have a cold, please give us notice and reschedule your appointment for when you are feeling better.

It is respectful to your massage therapist to consider their experience as well as your own. We prioritize hygiene and cleanliness too, for ourselves and our rooms. Everything that we used for your appointment, anything that we have touched or you have touched, gets sanitized after you leave. All sheets, towels, etc. get washed. All surfaces get wiped down. It is part of our job to make sure your health and well being are looked after. We love it when you take our health and well-being into consideration too.

I look forward to seeing you.

Organic Body Butters

In body positive, Essential Oil, loving kindness, Manchester, Massage, self care, studio on main, Uncategorized on September 5, 2025 at 2:13 PM

I’ve always been mindful of what goes on your skin during a massage session. There are some ingredients in skin care products, such as endocrine disruptors, that can affect hormone health. In the past [and sometimes still] I’ve even made my own small batches of massage balms to use in my practice, ensuring that every ingredient was organic and high quality.

I’ve recently fallen in love with some massage body butters that are handcrafted in a small warehouse in CA by Rebel Massage. The ingredients are clean, provide therapeutic effects from the organic base lotions and essential oils, and they smell amazing! I get excited each time I use them because I know they are good for you – and for me. The version with a bit more grip lets me access deeper muscle tissue layers with more ease and the version with a little extra melt is perfect for days when you’ve just come to relax.

Some of my most frequently used ones are: Sore Loser – which has Peppermint, Eucalyptus and Arnica to help sore muscles; For Your Inflammation – with Roman Chamomile, Juniper Berry and Wintergreen, which helps with inflammation; and Sole Food – which has Turmeric, Lemon and Black Pepper – great for foot health. I like Sole Food so much that I keep one at home as well, just for me.

Know that when you come in for your next massage appointment your wellness and well being are being truly thought of. I only use products that I’d feel good about putting on my own skin. Bonus that you get to go home smelling like heaven.

20 things : video 6

Massage Is For Every Body

I have so much to say about this that I made video after video, just trying to keep it short. My hair was cute and curled at the start … and slowly frizzed out as I got more frustrated at trying to contain a topic that I have so many thoughts and feelings about. 😉

If you’d like to have conversation about this, please reach out. ♥

It’s been twenty years since I graduated from massage school! Can’t believe how fast the time has gone by. I’m going to share twenty random things in several different videos. Could be about school itself, things your massage therapist wants you to know, self care practices to try at home, things I’ve learned, etc.

This is video six and thing number sixteen. I did this once before when it had been 14 years and shared the reflections on this website as written posts. Just type ’14 things’ in the search bar and they’ll pop up. I’d love to see you soon. You can click ‘Book Now’ under the Massage tab and find your way to your next appointment. :)

Inside Out

In 2022, Art, for sale, local artist, personal, Uncategorized on November 21, 2022 at 12:37 PM

I’ve been doing a lot of writing this month. I joined a challenge to write a book – or 50,000 words, in 30 days. It has been in the back of my mind to write about some lifetime trauma and struggle – often started and stopped due to the voice in my head that insists no one will be interested. In October I came across this quote from Sandra Cisneros – whose first book in 28 years was being published – she said, “I’d throw my poems under the bed, like Emily Dickinson,” she said, ” One of the things I learned from Emily – Miss Emily, I should say with respect-is that you don’t have to publish in your lifetime, but you have to write.”

That completely freed me. I never have to share, but I do need to write. Words and memories have been pouring out of me. Each old wound up for re-examination, for feeling and letting go of, and hopefully, to earn a new narrative once I’m through processing.

This painting was made during the first 15 or so days of the writing process. It doesn’t look like my work to me, and I’ve been curious to see what shape it would take. A friend and I examined it one morning – and we both began to see a figure on the right hand side of the piece. I saw an owl, a caldron at the feet of the figure, some hands, and a discarded mask in a corner, and my friend said, ‘oh – that looks like your liver and a bunch of your insides…and that’s your third eye falling off the side of your face looking at the guts you’ve taken out…” We both got goosebumps and saw the expression of the writing process making its way onto the canvas.

The intuitive art making experience is so cool. I did start off with an idea for this work, but it quickly disappeared as I added colors and shapes randomly – and then the painting revealed itself

Updates for 2022: Covid-19, Pricing, and Instagram

In 2022, body positive, Business, covid-19, CT, Manchester, Massage, reflexology, self care, studio on main, Uncategorized on January 6, 2022 at 12:38 PM

Happy New Year!

Crossing my fingers for a more easeful 2022, how about you?

This message is being sent to keep you updated on Covid policies and session pricing for 2022.

We’ve all experienced price increases across industries and I’ve noticed that many of my colleagues have upped their massage fees –  most to $90 an hour.

At this time I am choosing **NOT TO RAISE PRICES**. I don’t want a higher appointment rate to be a barrier to your wellness through massage.

Rather than raise prices, I am considering removing package discount pricing – however at this time you can still purchase two sessions at once to save 5%.

COVID policies:

Masks are again required throughout your session – no matter your vaccination status. All last-minute cancellation fees will be waived for the time being.  I urge you to please reschedule your time with me if you feel unwell in any way or have been knowingly exposed to anyone who has tested positive for the virus.

I continue to keep 30 minutes between clients so that the massage room can be cleaned and sanitized thoroughly. An air filter is run throughout your session, my hands are washed, hand sanitizer is used, a mask is worn, etc.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

My main priority is to continue to support your heath and well being and keep us all safe.

I look forward to working with you soon!
Be well,
Tania

P.S. I occasionally post self care videos over on INSTAGRAM, along with some of my art. If there is something you’d like to learn about – maybe reflexology points for different aches and pains – message me and look for the video over there. You can find me @TANIAPALERMOSTUDIOONMAIN

Neck Massage

In CT, Indulge, Manchester, Massage, meditation, Refresh, self care, Uncategorized on October 20, 2021 at 2:37 PM

Did you know that the average head weighs around 11 pounds? That’s a lot to carry around and be supported by only 7 vertebrae on your neck. Regular therapeutic massage can help ease some of the tension and pain that is often held in the neck muscles . . . and it feels good. 🙂

Benefits of massage

In body positive, Massage, self care, Uncategorized on October 12, 2021 at 1:15 PM

Yes…all of these things and more! :)

I remember in massage school, when sometimes getting massage five times in a week – how “in my body” I was. So many of us live in our heads. Thinking. Planning. Worrying. Regular bodywork can really ground you. I know it’s been a good massage when my voice is lower after the session. It means I’ve gone deep, settled in and taken up more space IN my body.

What about you? What signifies a good therapeutic massage?
